River Araguaia

The Araguaia is the main river of the region, being the natural dividing the states of Mato Grosso, Goias and Tocantins and having contributed heavily in the city's history.

In the past served as the entrance to the pioneering stage for garimpes diamond and setting for the Araguaia Guerrilla. Today is one of the biggest attractions of the city, given to lovers of water sports and fishing, being able to find fish typical of the Amazon Basin.

During the dry season appear beautiful beaches that can be tanned just at the time that the south and southeast of the country are in the middle of winter. In particular Waxing Crescent Beach in nearby Aragarças (GO) and the beach town of Arara in Pontal do Araguaia (MT), all with two badaladíssimas presentation of concerts, sports and much momentum. A pleasant surprise is with cultural events occurring at the same time in the town of Barra do Herons.

The exotic touch is on account of jumps that porpoises color pink usually give in late afternoon in the waters of the Araguaia.

Serra do Roncador

Cave of Pezinhos

Through a trail State Park Serra Azul, one arrives at a cave entrance, blocked by rocks. In this entry, both on the walls and in the ceiling, several footprints of animals and human (?), Many with 6 fingers. What do they mean? As they got on the walls and ceiling? Would footprints or inscriptions? Because visitation is restricted by the Air Force?

Portals in the Roncador

Legends and mysteries surrounding the Serra do Roncador. What are the portals of Roncador? Where are they? Where lead? Because so many seek Atlantis or Shamballah in Roncador? What would be the crystal skulls that some people look?

Enchanted Lagoon

This pond is in Indian territory and is very deep, without having yet been determined. Despite the immense amount of water, there is no life in it. Located at the entrance of a cave, also very deep and unexplored. The Indians do not enter the lagoon and the cave for fear, only the chief is authorized because they say it is inhabited by beings. Who are these beings? Because no life survives in the pond? Because the Indians guard the entrance to this cave?

Dry Cave

A large initial chamber opens into several tunnels and other chambers. One of these chambers houses a very interesting stone furniture, similar to modern. Another one has a central formation of stalactites and stalagmites in the shape of huge tree, with a kind of parlor on top of the tunnels and you can not get to the end, because any form of lighting used quenched. Who lived there? Where does the tunnel?

Cel. Percy Fawcett

Was the Roncador in their travels and discovered something here. The proof of this is that her great-nephew Timothy Fawcett came here 2 times a year for 19 years, tracking the paths of the great-uncle, through the reports of the letters he sent to his wife Nina. Timothy said the official reports of Fawcett were different to mislead and that the family knows the truth. At the end of your search, Timothy stated that the last vestige of the great-uncle was the Grotto Seca. What happened to Fawcett? Where'd it go? What would have discovered? What to tell your family stories?

S. Stone S. Arraya

The stone which is now on display at the Port Pioneer has to do with the story of the founding of the city, settled by waves of prospectors lured by the history of a bottle of diamonds buried beneath it, the bed of the Rio Araguaia, by miners fleeing of an Indian attack. When they returned to fetch the bottle, the river was fuller and written in stone the name of one of them, for easy searching later. Interestingly, when the stone was removed from the river to be exposed, several other brands were observed much earlier, several concentric circles, like the stones of Inca shrines. These inscriptions exist in other stones in the river, in the same place where this stone was removed. Who did the inscriptions? Why? What connection do Araguaia with the Incas?

Indian tribes

The Xavantes speak afraid of large fireballs in the sky or spotlights illuminating the sky village at night. What would these fireballs? What kind of equipment would appear at night in isolated areas?

Stones in disc format

Because in places where there are more occurrences appear several stones in the shape of little discs? What is its significance? How do they form?

Discoporto

Local law demarcated by the City Council to build a future discoporto. The Serra Azul (arm Serra do Roncador) was chosen for being the reports of apparitions always associated with this saw (or come from there or go there). What is the relationship with the apparitions of the mountain? Because the reports never include a landing? Because the apparitions always "disappear in the hills" or "out of the mountain"?

Parque da Serra Azul

The park is located 4 km from the city center and its area is 11,000 ha. The Bororo Indians used this site for their subsistence and termed KIEGUEREIRAL which means "place of birds die" because of the great diversity of birds that live there to this day. The lush flora and fauna coexist harmoniously with waterfalls, crevices and caves, archaeological and paleontological sites, curious rock formations, beautiful trails and native forests.

Also within the park is the landmark of the geodesic center of Brazil, the site of the future Discoporto Christ and Belvedere, where unfolds throughout the city and the meeting of the rivers Araguaia and Herons, a true invitation to emotion.

It is worth checking the circuit of waterfalls, among them Freemasonry and the foot-of-Serra (located in the back of the Inn).

Parque das Águas Quentes

Located within the city limits of Barra Herons, the Park is a recreational area with hydrothermal pools, waterslide, lazy river, wet bar, with temperatures ranging from 31 to 43 degrees with therapeutic properties such as decreased blood viscosity, increase sexual vitality, improves digestion gastric and duodenal, also serving to physiotherapy.

Besides the baths, the park offers a structure with bars, restaurants, showers, locker rooms and aerobics instructors and fitness stretching. All this with preserving the original Permanent Forest.

Trails and Waterfalls

The region has one of the largest sources of waterfalls, most visitable through trails easily accessible.

Waterfalls slide with natural caves behind the curtain of water, hot or cold, with natural pools or wells finally falls for everyone (especially the waterfalls and crystal panning).

Caves and Caverns

The region has many caves and caverns, some still unexplored, which whets the curiosity of all who visit the city. Inside the Parque Estadual da Serra Azul are the Cave of Pezinhos with inscriptions and archaeological Grotto of the Apes among others.

In the region lying caves with large chambers, galleries and even underground lakes of water limestone, a gorgeous blue.
